I think the image on the bottom was my most successful image, where it was taken using the technique of analogous colors. I consider this to be my most successful one because of how harmonious the colors look together. While the blue and purple are very bright, it blends well together, along with the green leaves in the background and stems. To me, when I look at this picture, I am at peace as it portrays a soft and smooth energy.
The most challenging aspect of this assignment was applying everything that we have learned from the lectures into the real world. While color and composition were easier to grasp and understand, the lighting aspect was the hardest techniques to practice on. It took me a lot of time and pictures to fully understand each technique, to which I think that there is still room for growth. In the beginning, I would understand how each technique applies to the example pictures in the lecture. However, as I began to take my camera out and take some shots, I got confused. Overall, I think that with more exposure and practice using the techniques, it allowed me to deepen my understanding overall.
In the future, I think one way to create stronger images is to travel to different areas to practice different lighting techniques. I realized that I really enjoyed working with the natural environment. I recognize that the lighting especially when taking shots in the natural environment is dependent on where the sun is located in different times of the day. Taking more time to focus on practicing these techniques is going to take time as it is dependent on certain times of the day. So, curating images that I imagine is going to take more practice as I learn how to take advantage of different areas under different times of the day.
Hey Adriana,
I’d like to start off by saying that I am really drawn to this photo as well! I agree that your use of analogous colors work together in such harmony, which make it such a pleasing image to look at. Additionally, how these colors pop out from the background create such a comforting and “easy-to-look-at” image -- it doesn’t create a confusing use of color (which I feel like could be an issue when taking photos using analogous colors). You really did an amazing job and should be proud of yourself!
Keep snapping your shots,
Alli
